The Live Oak City Council unanimously approved a project Nov. 4 to make the intersection of Allen and Linda streets an all-way stop near the city soccer complex.
Under the resolution approved by the council, the Public Works Department will install stop signs and stop bars for traffic approaching the intersection. The city’s agenda packet specifies new stop control for eastbound and westbound traffic on Allen Street and northbound traffic on Linda Street, completing all-way stop control at the four-leg intersection.
The staff report says the residential neighborhood has experienced unsafe turning movements and disregard for pedestrians, particularly from traffic traveling to the soccer complex. Staff also evaluated traffic and accident data, visibility and pedestrian travel using California traffic-control standards. During the council meeting, staff cited pedestrian and vehicle near-misses, especially during soccer season. The meeting video is available here.
The project is estimated at up to $3,500 and is funded through the city’s Streets/Roads Fund. The agenda materials say city staff will perform the installation. The city has not provided an installation date.
