A Live Oak resident used public comment at the May 6 City Council meeting to complain about a multi-day wedding at 9611 Cannon Street that he said brought noise, traffic, food trucks, trailers and late-night disruption to the neighborhood.
Rick Hardy, speaking with his wife, Lynn Hardy, said the event affected nearby residents and lasted past 11 p.m. Councilmembers followed up with questions about the complaints and the response.
City staff later said the wedding was not approved through city hall and was handled as a municipal noise-code issue. According to the meeting summary and extracted meeting record, the sheriff and Live Oak police personnel were involved in responding to the complaint.
The exchange put a narrow enforcement question on the public record: what rules apply to private gatherings in Live Oak and how the city responds when neighbors say those events become a nuisance.
The same meeting also included other city business, including approval of the city’s annual Transportation Development Act claim for fiscal year 2021-22, but the Cannon Street complaint was one of the most pointed public comments of the night.
