The Northern Humboldt Union High School District board approved a $590,000 purchase of 899 Murray Road in McKinleyville and authorized Cindy Vickers to finalize the transaction on the district’s behalf, according to the board’s May 12 minutes.
The minutes say the board met in closed session to discuss the property, identified as 899 Murray Road, McKinleyville CA 95519, with Laurel Tree Charter School listed as the negotiating party and “agreement to purchase” listed under negotiation. When the board reconvened, it announced approval for Vickers, the district’s director of fiscal services and agency negotiator, to finalize the purchase.
The minutes do not spell out how the purchase will be financed, when it will close, or what specific day-to-day use the property will have once acquired. The same meeting also included routine approvals, an LCAP update, a travel policy review, new-course approval for Advanced Agriculture Mechanics, and approval of shade-structure contracts for Arcata High School and McKinleyville High School contingent on state approval.
Board members present at the meeting were Cedric Aaron Jr., Jamie Bush, Natalie Giannini, Torie Moulton and Christine Yannone, according to the minutes.
