Rio Dell council adopted its fiscal year 2026-27 operating and capital budget on June 2, approving Resolution 167-2026 in a 5-0 vote, according to the meeting summary and agenda for the regular council meeting. The June 2 agenda placed the budget adoption on the council’s action calendar, and the meeting summary says the adopted budget totals $24.7 million.
Finance Director Travis Stamford told the council the plan includes about $22.2 million in projected revenue and a planned draw of about $2.6 million from fund balances. He said the gap reflects grant reimbursement timing, required spending of remaining federal relief funds and use of reserves designated for capital projects, not an operating shortfall.
The largest item in the budget is a $10 million State Water Resources Control Board-funded water distribution project. Stamford also pointed to remaining CDAA earthquake-related projects, plus grant-funded work that includes an Eel River Trail accessibility ramp, pedestrian connectivity improvements and Painter Street sewer upgrades.
The budget holds staffing flat at 23.05 full-time equivalent positions, with police remaining the largest share of general fund spending. Stamford said the general fund ending balance would be $1.85 million, above the city’s reserve-policy target.
The council also approved the budget’s position allocation table as part of the resolution, formalizing the staffing level for the year. The meeting summary and agenda do not describe amendments to the budget package beyond the adopted resolution.
