Shasta County elections officials are asking supervisors to recognize $1,030,384 in state election revenue and add $297,840 in spending authority for the Elections Department, according to a June 16 budget amendment prepared by County Clerk/Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis.

The memo says the request is tied to costs from the Nov. 4, 2025 statewide special election and to ongoing payroll pressure, including overtime needed through the rest of the fiscal year. The document says the additional revenue comes from the State of California and that, if the amendment is adopted, General Fund use would fall by $732,544.

The budget tables in the attached materials show the extra spending spread across accounts including extra help, overtime, postage, election expenses and election worker fees. The memo is addressed to Deputy County Executive Officer Erin Bertain and copied to Admin Analyst Patrick Daly and Auditor-Controller Nolda Short.

The materials reviewed for this report show a budget request, not a final board action. They do not say whether supervisors approved the amendment or asked for changes.
