Sutter County’s Agriculture/Public Protection and General Government Committee advanced a proposed countywide Records Management Policy and Records Retention Schedule on July 6, putting the item on track for Board of Supervisors consideration.
The staff report says the proposal would replace separate department-specific retention schedules with a single countywide framework. It would standardize how county records are retained, stored, destroyed and preserved, while still allowing department-specific schedules in Appendix A. The report also says County Counsel reviewed the draft and that implementation would occur within existing resources with no significant General Fund impact.
The committee packet identifies the item as MT7769 and says the County Administrative Office would coordinate the policy if adopted. The materials also say the county would distribute the policy after Board action.
The agenda and staff report were posted by Sutter County on its website for the July 6 committee meeting.
