Sutter County supervisors were scheduled to take up a packed agenda May 12 that bundled several items with immediate local impact, including a proposed overhaul of the county’s code enforcement program, a special-events fee increase, budget adjustments for IHSS and the sheriff’s office, and a renewed partnership with the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation.
The county’s agenda packet also listed a workforce assessment procurement tied to SACOG funding and a reappointment to the Live Oak Cemetery District board of trustees.
In the code enforcement study session, county materials said staff wanted a new policy and procedure framework after reporting 184 cases in 2025, more than 100 notices and orders, and 15 administrative citations. The materials also described proposed changes that could include administrative fines of up to $1,000 per day, recording unabated violations against real property, special assessments, compliance agreements, a restitution account, radios and outreach.
Other packet items included a memorandum of agreement with the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation for annual economic-development services, a request for proposals for an industry/workforce assessment, and a special-events zoning-clearance fee revision. The packet summary said the fee would rise from $54.62 to $561 effective July 1, 2026.
The same packet also included a $211,711 IHSS budget increase to meet a higher maintenance-of-effort requirement, offset by 1991 realignment revenue, and a $38,000 sheriff budget adjustment to buy a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and accept a donated 2000 Ford E-250 van for the county’s capital asset list.
