The California State Personnel Board on May 11 approved revisions to the Employment Development Department’s tax compliance classification series, changing the job framework effective June 1, 2026.
According to the board’s May 11 minutes, the action included retitling Senior Tax Compliance Representative (Specialist), revising minimum qualifications, removing two abolished classifications, revising Alternate Range Criteria 298 and changing the probationary period for the senior classification. The minutes say the Department of Human Resources, in consultation with EDD, proposed the changes in response to a 2021 State Personnel Board decision, Case No. 21-0171N.
The board’s meeting transcript excerpt says the EDD-related proposal covered revisions to minimum qualifications, alternate range criteria and probation, and that the board approved the request. The excerpt does not provide the full before-and-after qualification language.
The same meeting’s CalPERS update also noted revisions to the board’s compensation policy to comply with Assembly Bill 692, but the tax compliance action itself was handled as a separate hearing item.
