Yuba-Sutter Transit’s board is scheduled to consider authorizing a $3,846,140 purchase order with Gillig, LLC, for five 35-foot diesel low-floor replacement buses at its Oct. 15 meeting. The recommendation is included in the agency’s meeting agenda and staff report.
The agency says the buses would replace model year 2014 vehicles that will have met or exceeded their useful-life benchmarks by retirement. The new buses would be configured similarly to the existing fleet, with seating for up to 31 ambulatory passengers or 25 ambulatory passengers and up to two wheelchair users, according to the staff report.
The proposed funding mix is $3,076,912 in Federal Transit Administration Section 5307 formula funds and $769,228 in State Transit Assistance funds. The purchase would be made through the California Association of Coordinated Transportation’s cooperative purchasing agreement, with Gillig’s quote listing a price of $769,228 per bus.
If authorized, production is estimated to begin within 24 to 26 months after the purchase order is received. The agency said the project would be included in its fiscal year 2029 capital budget to align with the expected delivery. The agenda recommends board authorization, but the available agenda does not establish whether the board ultimately approved the purchase or imposed any conditions.
