Arcata’s City Council is set to consider whether to place renewal of Measure G on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot when it meets Tuesday, but the tax item is only one piece of a broader fiscal agenda.

The June 17 packet also calls for a public hearing on the proposed FY 2026-27 budget, adoption of the city’s appropriations limit, and approval of the legislative platform, according to the agenda packet.

Along with the election item, council is scheduled to consider a temporary hiring freeze and a voluntary retirement health incentive program as part of its response to fiscal conditions. The same packet also includes a resolution calling the general municipal election for Nov. 3, 2026.

The materials do not spell out the final council vote on Measure G or the exact ballot language. They also do not include the proposed tax renewal’s duration, rate or uses. Those details would need to come from any staff report, ordinance text or adopted resolution that follows.

Measure G is described in the agenda materials as a renewal proposal for the November election, and the packet links it to other budget and staffing measures rather than presenting it as a standalone item.
