Fortuna City Council members voted 5-0 on April 6 to place a local sales tax measure on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot and directed staff to return with the 75-word ballot question, along with the ordinance and resolution needed to put the measure before voters.
The council action came during a special meeting that also included a staff presentation from Finance Director Aaron Felmlee and data from EMC representatives on the proposed tax measure, according to the meeting materials.
The record reviewed for the meeting does not include the proposed tax rate, any estimated revenue, or the full ballot language. It also does not provide a complete account of council discussion or public comment on the item.
The sales tax vote moves the measure into the city’s formal ballot process and sets up additional council action before voters see it in November.
