Humboldt County supervisors are set to take up two major land-use and housing items at their Sept. 1 meeting: a revised resolution to accept a $1 million HOME Investment Partnership Program award for first-time homebuyer assistance and rental aid, and a public hearing on whether to rezone about 750 acres to Timberland Production Zone.
According to the final agenda for the Board of Supervisors’ meeting, the housing item would authorize the county to receive the HOME award for first-time homebuyer assistance and rental assistance. The zoning item would open, consider and close a hearing on a zone reclassification covering four assessor parcels and, if approved, adopt a resolution and ordinance establishing Timberland Production Zone zoning.
The agenda does not include final votes, and it does not identify the applicant or landowner for the rezoning beyond the parcel numbers and requested zoning designation. Those details would come later in the meeting record, if supervisors approve the items.
The county’s full Sept. 1 agenda includes a wide range of other actions, from appointments and policy updates to contracts and a closed-session litigation discussion, but the housing award and timber rezoning are the most consequential policy items scheduled for public action.
