The Live Oak City Council on Sept. 2 approved a $1 million Proposition 64 grant to rehabilitate Live Oak Pool and support related programming and staff services over the next five years.
According to a meeting summary, the grant is administered by the California Board of State Community Corrections and is expected to pay for pool resurfacing, possible shade and slide improvements, and staffing or professional services tied to the pool. Council members asked questions after seeing references to public safety and law enforcement in the grant language, and staff said those provisions were tied to compliance and educational requirements rather than patrol spending.
The council also approved a supplemental appropriation for the full award, clearing the way for the city to move ahead with the agreement.
The pool grant was part of a broader Sept. 2 meeting that also included action on stormwater modeling work and a rewritten nuisance ordinance, according to the meeting summary.
