A Shasta County amendment extending election print, mail and delivery services through Dec. 31, 2029 contains an unresolved discrepancy over the consultant’s legal name.
The First Amendment to the agreement, included in the Board of Supervisors’ Sept. 29 packet, sets maximum compensation for the amended contract term at $225,000. It also allows the county to approve annual rate increases of up to 15%, as long as the increases do not push compensation above that cap.
The document title identifies the contractor as All Seasons Moving and Storage Inc., doing business as Don Hemsted’s Van and Storage. In the agreement body and consultant signature block, however, the company is identified as Humboldt Moving & Storage Co. Inc., doing business as Don Hemsted’s Van and Storage. The signature block lists Humboldt representatives John Gierek and Garrett Sehon.
The amendment does not explain whether All Seasons is a predecessor, an affiliate, a related business name or a drafting error. It therefore does not establish which entity is legally responsible for performance and payment; that question would require clarification from the county or the companies.
The agreement modifies a Feb. 13, 2024, contract for election-related logistics and revises notice and payment provisions. The available materials do not establish whether the Board voted on the item on Sept. 29 or what its final disposition was.
