Yuba City is asking the City Council to authorize two transportation grant applications in SACOG’s 2026 federal funding cycle, one for Gray Avenue and one for Reeves Avenue.
According to the council packet, staff recommend the Gray Avenue Safety Project from State Route 20 to Kimball Avenue and the Reeves Avenue Downtown Bike Route Project between Cooper Avenue and Plumas Street. The packet says the combined estimated project cost is $5.032 million, with about $4.45 million sought in grants and the local share to be covered by gas tax revenues.
The city says it has already hired Peterson Consulting Advantage for up to $15,000 to help prepare the applications. The packet also says SACOG requires an adopted resolution and that the city is seeking funding under the System Performance Program and the Next Generation Solutions & Clean Air Program.
The Gray Avenue project would include buffered bike lanes, sidewalks, consolidation of existing road crossings, a pedestrian hybrid beacon, accessible ramps, an overlay and new signage and roadway markings, the packet says. The Reeves Avenue project would add a Class IV bikeway and sidewalk, along with curb, gutter, drainage improvements, ADA-compliant curb ramps and roadway markings.
The packet does not include the final council vote, and it is not clear from the materials whether the applications have since been filed or awarded.
