Yuba County supervisors approved two special assessments and abatement liens tied to a code-enforcement case at 15589 Vierra Road in Rackerby during their Aug. 25 meeting.
According to the board’s summary of proceedings, the first hearing ended with a $7,921.80 special tax assessment and a $329,921.80 abatement lien recorded against the property. The second hearing produced a $6,650.65 assessment and a $68,250.65 lien.
The minutes say Administrative Analyst Harrison Biersteker presented the hearings, recapped the abatement timeline and discretionary factors, and provided the board with a letter submitted to code enforcement by Meredith Coghlan Evans. Code Enforcement Officer Kenneth Sprague also spoke, and property owner Tod Hickman testified in both hearings.
In the first vote, supervisors Andy Vasquez, Renick House and Gary Bradford voted yes; Chair Seth Fuhrer voted no; and Jon Messick abstained. In the second, Vasquez, House and Bradford again voted yes, Fuhrer voted no, and Messick was absent after leaving the meeting at 2:43 p.m.
