Live Oak’s City Council is set to consider final adoption of the revised 2021-2029 Housing Element at its June 3 meeting, after the Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval on May 19 and staff said the state issued a conditional compliance letter on May 7.
According to the June 3 council packet, the item asks the council to adopt the city’s 6th Cycle Housing Element, make findings that it is exempt from additional environmental review under CEQA’s common-sense exemption, amend the General Plan, and direct staff to submit the adopted document to the Department of Housing and Community Development for certification.
The staff report says the city worked with consultant PlaceWorks to revise the housing element in response to HCD comments. The commission’s May 19 recommendation followed that revision cycle, and the packet identifies the May 7 letter as HCD’s conditional compliance response.
The housing element update is one of the main items on the June 3 agenda. The packet also includes a review of the proposed FY2026-27 budget and a public hearing on planning fee updates, along with approval of the May 20 council minutes.
The supporting materials do not show whether the council voted on June 3, and the record provided here does not include the full HCD correspondence explaining every requested change.
