Sutter County supervisors are set to take up a new recorder notification fee after putting a Sept. 29 public hearing on the calendar for a proposal to add a $10 charge to each recording.
In the Sept. 8 agenda packet, the Clerk-Recorder item calls for a hearing to consider adopting a resolution that would establish, effective Feb. 1, 2027, “an additional recording fee of ten dollars ($10)” to fund a mandatory recorder notification program under SB 255. The packet does not include the board’s final action on the hearing request, and it does not spell out administrative costs, expected revenue or how the county would notify residents once the program is in place. It does show that the board was being asked to move the proposal from policy discussion toward implementation by setting a date and time for the hearing.
The fee item is one of several consent-calendar and budget matters on the Sept. 8 agenda, alongside tax-rate approvals, behavioral health funding, a sheriff’s dispatch software purchase and a hearing on a non-conforming parcel issue.
