Sutter County supervisors were scheduled to consider authorizing a request for proposals for architectural and engineering services for the Sheriff’s Office Medium Jail HVAC replacement project, according to the Oct. 13 Board of Supervisors agenda packet.
The proposed solicitation seeks construction documents for replacing the jail’s HVAC units and making related architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades. The Medium Jail, at 1077 Civic Center Boulevard in Yuba City, is a 16,775-square-foot building constructed in 1993, the county’s request for proposals says.
The county said a facility assessment completed in summer 2025 was used to seek funding for replacements. In September 2025, the board approved a $6 million increase in appropriations for the County Jail Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Project, identified in the agenda packet as project PJ-100643.
The RFP calls for proposals by 3 p.m. Nov. 18, 2026, with proposals scheduled to be ranked Dec. 4 and a consultant contract award anticipated Jan. 26, 2027. The county says it will negotiate the scope and cost with the preferred consultant and return the independent contractor agreement to the Board of Supervisors for approval. The agenda materials do not establish the result of the Oct. 13 consideration, and the design-contract amount and construction schedule have not yet been set.
