The Yuba County Water Agency Board of Directors’ Sept. 1 agenda includes a proposal to let staff move ahead with early procurement of reclaimed riprap for the Daguerre Point Nature-like Fishway project.
According to the board agenda, Amendment No. 1 to the project’s construction-manager-at-risk contract would allow staff to buy reclaimed riprap from two Marysville sites. The agenda says geotechnical testing showed the material meets project specifications and that using it now could save about $500,000 compared with commercial sources.
The item carries a not-to-exceed cap of $1.2 million, the agenda says. The fishway project is tied to the Yuba River Resilience Initiative, which the board previously supported, and is intended to help re-establish fish passage between Daguerre Point Dam and Englebright Dam in the Lower Yuba River.
The agenda does not show whether the board approved the amendment at the meeting. It also does not say whether the projected savings were independently reviewed or whether other riprap sources were compared in detail.
