Yuba-Sutter Transit is preparing to move its planned Next Generation Transit Facility in Linda into the proposal phase of a design-build procurement, according to the agency’s Oct. 15 board agenda.
The agenda recommends authorizing a request for proposals from qualified firms for final design and construction of the facility and appointing a board member or designee to the proposal evaluation committee. The recommendation is not itself a contract award or a commitment of project funds.
The agency said it received seven responses by the Oct. 2 deadline to a request for qualifications released in August. Staff are evaluating the submissions and expect to invite three or four of the highest-ranking firms to submit proposals in the second phase.
The proposed facility would be built on a 19.2-acre vacant property at 6035 Avondale Avenue. Preliminary plans call for an approximately 15,000-square-foot maintenance building, a 14,000-square-foot administration and operations building, bus parking, a fuel bay and a bus wash facility. The project is also anticipated to include on-site solar generation and energy storage as energy-resiliency features.
Staff said the final RFP was being developed for an anticipated November release, with an award recommendation expected to return to the board in early 2027. The agenda does not identify a current committed project cost or show the board’s final action on the recommendation.
